What you need:
  • Replacement bulb (two per clock) - 5w 12v for brighter clocks, 1.7w 12v standard. The size of the bulb is not mentioned in the Triumph Service Manual. Haynes reads "Refer to existing bulb ratings."
  • Dielectric grease (Honda)
  • 8 mm wrench or socket

Note: If you have a flyscreen or other headlight or handlebar mounted fairing you may need to remove it to gain access to the back of the clocks.

Steps:

  1. For the speedometer, remove the speedometer cable from the back. While it's off, lube the drive cable.
  2. Remove the two 8 mm nuts holding on the black outer cover.
  3. Slide off the outer cover.
  4. The bulbs are in two black rubber socket holders with two wires coming out. Gently pull the holders out, working them back and forth to loosen. Be careful not to pull on the wires.
  5. Gently pull out the bulb. Again, be careful not to pull on the wires.
  6. Put a dab of dielectric grease in the rubber socket.
  7. Insert the replacement bulb.
  8. Check to see that it works by turning on the ignition.
  9. Push the rubber socket back into the rear of the clock.
  10. Replace the black outer cover hand tighten the domed nuts.
  11. For the speedometer, reattach the speedometer cable.
